Eventful week

This past week I had a lot of things going on. I had a prenatal appointment on Tuesday where they did another NST. My baby's heart rate kept dropping so they sent me to have another test that they did through an ultrasound at the University Hospital. She didn't pass that one either, so they sent me home with an appointment made for Wednesday. Thinking it would be a short appointment, I brought my sister-in-law Angie with me. We had plans to go see the movie "Twilight" right after I was done. She failed the test again, so they brought me to another to more closely observe her heart rate. It kept dropping and then going back to normal and they were concerned about this, so they moved me to another room. Little did I know, they were about to admit me to the hospital and keep me over night. I thought it was just to watch her more, until a doctor came in and had me sign a consent form so they could do a c-section. I was dying of thirst, having contractions and had low blood sugar, so I was feeling pretty miserable. Especially after they tried to do the IV 3 times and blew the veins twice. I felt bad that I had dragged Angie all the way there only to have her sitting and getting pushed to the corner of the room when the doctor came. It was nice to have someone to talk to, though. Also, her husband was babysitting Ty, and had been since 1. Thank you so much Angie and Nick! Then after a couple hours (atleast that's what it seemed like. It was about 6:00), they came in and said she was doing a lot better so I could go home. We ended up still going to Twilight, which wasn't as good as I thought it would be, but it was really fun to have a girls night with Angie! To tell you the truth, I was a little disappointed that they didn't do the c-section. I don't want her to be sick, but I was looking forward to having her early. I am almost considered full term (37 weeks), and despite the fact that babies are easier to take care of in the womb, I am so ready to be done with this stressful pregnancy. I just have to keep praying that she will be fine and that I can endure the wait. Hopefully we will be able to afford all these tests!
For Thanksgiving, Jeff's parents went to North Carolina to visit one of theirs daughters, so Angie and I were the ones that had to come up with Thanksgiving dinner. Luckily I didn't stay in the hospital, or Angie would have had to do most of it on her own. This was my first time making such a big important dinner, so I was pretty nervous about the whole thing. Luckily my Parents and my cousin Susan were willing to help. Plus, I got the easiest parts. The Jello, green salad, and the dressing. It was fun to have mine and Jeff's family together, and I'm glad my parents and Susan didn't have to have Thanksgiving alone. My sister went to her in-laws this year, so this would have been their first year without both of us. Thanks for your help with dinner, all who helped! It was fun to have the experience. Though I really feel like I did nothing.
I had to go back to the hospital on Friday for a test. Luckily that one only lasted 45 minutes. I have another one on Tuesday. I also went shopping at 4am all by myself. I was pretty nervous about that. I was afraid people would be violent and do something that would put me in labor. That's definately not something you want to have happen in the middle of a mob of people. I didn't get much of what I wanted, but people were really nice and kept apologizing when they bumped me. My husband told me about a Walmart in NY where a worker was trampled to death, and 4 workers, incuding a 28 year old pregnant woman, were sent to the hospital after a stampede of shoppers ran over them in a hurry to get to the good sales. Our Walmart was open 24 hours, and I think that made a difference. All their really good sales were wrapped in plastic and the workers tried to make sure no one touched them until 5. I stood where the crowd was small. I probably would have been trampled if I was in the electronics area. Once 5 came, I only heard the wave of movement start and people beginning to get yell. The prayer I said before I left probably helped a lot, too. At least I have a little head start on my holiday shopping! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Contractions?

I woke up last night having really bad cramping pains on my left side. As I lay there, I realized that my stomach muscles were getting really tight right before the pain. They were somewhere between 1 and 3 minutes apart, very irregular. This kept me awake for about 3 hours. I have been having them throughout today every once in a while. I was pretty worried last night that I may be going into labor. If my water breaks while she is in the breech position, I will have to get to the hospital ASAP! I never had contractions with Ty until I was induced, and these were the first ones I had noticed during this pregnancy. But they never got unbearable. I'm pretty sure it was just false labor. It did get my hopes up, though. In a little over a week she will be considered full term (37 weeks), and she will be fine to come any time after that. I'm fine with her coming that early! I know they are harder to take care of when they are out, but I am so ready to be done with this pregnancy. It's nice to know that if she doesn't come on her own, she will be born in 3 to 4 weeks! I am so excited!

Another appointment

I am starting my weekly appointments now. My midwife told me since I am taking the pill for my diabetes they have to do weekly non-stress tests on the baby, which is just putting a monitor on my stomach and recording baby's heart rate. She said sometimes the pills can cause the placenta to stop working, so they have to keep a close eye on her. I was hooked to this machine for 25 minutes today. I have never realized how much she moves around! The midwife left me alone for a while, and I had a heck of a time keeping the monitor on her heart. She also said I need to do better with controlling my sugars, because the pills are not helping a whole lot. She said if I can't, I will have to be put on insulin. I still have a hard time poking my finger to test the blood, I REALLY don't want to have to give myself a shot every day! I need to do better. She said I have to stop eating bread and pasta as often as I do. It's just hard, because pasta is the easiest, and usually the cheapest meal to make! I still make sure we have salad and another kind of veggie with it! I also had a ultrasound to check the fluid. She said I actually have a high amount, but not dangerously high. That's totally different from Tyler. He didn't have enough fluid. The baby is also breech right now, so I may not have to worry so much about deciding what form of delivery to try for. Since I had a c-section the first time, there is a higher risk that turning her manually will cause them to rupture my uterus, so they will not attempt it. I will just be scheduled for a c-section. She still has a little room to change, but I really hope she stays breech. Then I won't have to worry about deciding which way is best, plus we will be able to have her a week early, which will relieve my stress about her being born on Christmas!

Update

I went to the OBGYN on wednesday and they decided to put me on Glyburide because I haven't been able to control my blood sugar. I have to take them every 12 hours and monitor my blood 4 times a day to make sure it is working. Unfortunately one of the side effects I have been experiencing is nausea. Last night I threw up for the first time in probably a month. I also have a sinus infection and a cold, so at the moment I am not doing very well. The baby is still kicking strong, and the doctor said she is right on for her size, so I don't have to worry too much at the moment about her being too big. I only have 5 weeks left, and I am so excited to see what she looks like!

Tyler is getting smarter every day. He's become really good at understanding requests like bringing me a tissue (which I have asked him to do a lot lately), and other things like that. It makes things a lot easier for me, and he loves doing things for me. I wonder how long that will last, ha ha! He always has to wash his hands if they get even a little dirty. He plays more on his own, and he doesn't want me to carry him as much, and my back thanks him for it. He still takes naps, which will be nice for when the baby comes. They aren't scheduled, but they usually last for an hour or two. I can't believe he is going to be 3 in 2 months! Time sure goes by fast. He's such a cute kid!

Halloween

I know this post is a little late, but I am not very good at updating. Halloween was busy, but fun. Tyler broke our camera a few days before, so we don't have any pictures. Hopefully our family will share the ones they took. Ty was a skeleton. The costume came with a mask, but he wouldn't keep it on so we painted his face. The first time he saw it, he actually looked pretty freaked out, just staring in the mirror without much of an expression. He got to wear his costume quite a bit. We went to a party that a family in Jeff's parents ward have every year a few days before Halloween. They have a haunted house in their garage that's actually pretty cool . We didn't take Ty through it. He's already started having nightmares about the noisy window in his bedroom. We have really old windows that make annoying, and (to a kid) pretty scary, whistling sounds when it's windy. I hope we can afford to replace them soon. Anyway, then the day before Halloween we went to the Krammer's house for the grandkids to do Halloween stuff together, and we had a trunk-or-treat later that night. Jeff was Mr. T this year. It was a really good costume. He had a lot of comments on how cool it was. On Halloween Ty and I went trick-or-treating at my mom and Susan's work with Brittany's kids. It was fun to hear so many people say how cute our kids looked. We went to eat with Susan and a guy at the restaurant gave Ty, Jack and Dan a dollar each instead of candy. It was nice of him. That night Jeff got off early to go trick-or-treating with Ty for the first time. He usually has to work late, so he has never had a chance to take him. He had a lot of fun teaching him to say "trick-or-treat" and "thank you" at each door. Last Halloween he was sick the whole time, and even ended up puking all over his costume, so he didn't really get into trick-or-treating. He got so much candy between the trunk-or-treat and trick-or-treating. It has been a big temptation for me! I have cheated a couple time and have had pretty high blood sugar the last couple of days. I need to hide the candy!!

Well, I only have a few more weeks! I can't believe it's already November! Right now it's snowing pretty hard, too. I like snow during the Christmas season, but I hate driving in it, and being cold. When I was pregnant with Ty, it was in the winter too. I was walking down the stairs to work one day and I slipped and fell down a couple of them when I was 8 months pregnant. It was really scary because it was a very long stair case and they never had it salted or shoveled by the time I went to work because it was pretty early. Hopefully I will have better balance this year. Tyler is really excited for it. He looked out the window today and the first thing he said was, "I need glubs (gloves), mommy. Where my boots?" When it snowed earlier this year, he went outside and played in it with Jeff. They built a snowman and a snow chair. Ty loved it! I'm glad Jeff has that kind of energy, because I definitely don't. I took some pictures that hopefully I will be able to retrieve from our broken camera and post.
